Accommodation in Zagora
Riad Lamane
Kasbah La Fibule du Draa
Zagora was laid out as an administrative centre by the French. The oasis, however, has always been inhabited and it was from there that the Saadians launched their conquest of Morocco in the 16th century. Despite being no more than a village, it has a good number of hotels. You can have a real desert experience when a whirling dust storm blows in from the Sahara, accompanied by hair-raising lightning.
Zagora is also the site of the famous battered old painted wooden sign which reads – Tombouctoo 52 jours – by camel caravan.
